What a Music PR Campaign Actually Looks Like, Week by Week
PR is often described vaguely. Here is the usual shape of a campaign.
Before it starts: the publicist listens, agrees on the story, and checks your assets: press photos, bio, a private stream link, and any news hooks such as a tour or collaboration.
Week 1: a press release or pitch is written. The story is the angle, not just "new single out".
Weeks 2-4: pitches go out to writers, editors and radio hosts who cover your genre and region. Follow-ups are brief and relevant.
Weeks 4-8: coverage lands: reviews, premieres, interviews, features. The publicist reports what ran and what is still pending.
After: coverage is reused in your bio, pitches and ads.
What PR does not do: guarantee coverage or replace a good song. If you want the fuller job description, here is an overview of what a music PR agency does.
